This little guy in the photo above (my son) is the inspiration for the story I am working on. I am actively seeking an agent and publisher for my original work.
My story is a rhyming poem about a little "monster" who mis-hears a common saying that most parents, teachers, and caregivers say. The look of my character will be based on this photo of my son wearing his dragon Halloween costume at age 1. My main character starts out trying to get a laugh out of his friends and family but learns a valuable lesson about kindness with a twist at the end. This will be a seasonal book which coincides with the Halloween season.
My producer at Sesame Street and a team of publishers at Sesame Publishing has reviewed it said that children will find the story very funny and parents will love the lesson it teaches.
I've gotten some wonderful feedback so far. Since it is not licensed specifically for Sesame Street, I am able to publish it independent of the Sesame Workshop. They have been unbelievably helpful. The manuscript will be around 30 pages. I have a illustrator working on some sketches.
Please message me if you are interested in learning more about my story and being a part of my team!
